Delhi metro is the first modern train service in India with electronic payment system. There are two zones at every station; Paid zone and without Paid zone. Ticket counters are arranged in without paid zone at all Metro stations. Here you can select different kind of traveling options, just like one time traveling Token, Tourist Card and Travel Cards.
One time Traveling Token: This kind of token can be used one time for traveling in metro train. You can take this plastic token from metro station's token counters. These token counters are installed in metro station's non paid zones. You have to touch this token at paid and non paid zone entrance sensor. After touching this token, the sensor gate will open and you can enter in paid zone of metro station and can enjoy the metro traveling from one station to your desiring metro station with valid token.
Tourist Metro Card: Delhi Metro Corporation offers two types of tourist cards for unlimited traveling in Delhi. These are one day traveling card and three days traveling card. One day travelling card cost Rs. 70/- and three days travelling card cost Rs. 200/- . Delhi metro return Rs. 50/- as you return metro travelling card. This Rs. 50/- are taken as security for card at purchasing time.
Metro Travel Card: This kind of traveling card is valid up to one year and more beneficial to frequent commuter in Delhi Metro. This travelling card is available at every station in cost of Rs. 50 and you can recharge it from Rs. 50 to Rs. 800. The security charges of card are refundable at the time of card return. This card balance can be checked at any metro station with automated ticket reading machine.
How can use Token and Card for Metro Journey:
Token use: if you are using token to travel in metro train. You have to exhibit your token at the particular space at electronic flap gate. As you exhibit your token that place the flap will open and you can enter in paid area of the metro station. At the end of your journey, you have to deposit this token at exit gate of the station's paid area. As you deposit that coin or token exit flap will open and you can go out of that area.
Travel Card - Tourist Card use: it is very easy to use metro travel card. For enter in paid area of metro station you have to reveal your metro card at particular space at the entrance of paid area and similar kind of action you have to play at exit time from paid area of the metro station.
